“So they are no longer two, but one flesh.” (Mt 19:6)

 

 “The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”  (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601)

 

Marriage is the vocation by which spouses live-out the qualities of the Gospel and take their rightful place in the life of the Church.  This intention is formally declared in the marriage ceremony.

 

St Theresa Parish is a part of the Diocese of Sacramento.  We follow the Guidelines of our Diocese. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR A WEDDING AT SAINT THERESA

 

  1. RECENT copies of your Baptismal, First Communion, and Confirmation certificates. (This applies to Catholics)

  2. Marriage Preparation. THE THREE-PART MARRIAGE prep could be taken online:

    1. Basic MARRIAGE PREP www.catholicmarriageprep.com  and 

    2. PREMARITAL INVENTORY http://www.catholicmarriageprep.com/prepare-enrich and

    3. NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING TRAINING (NFP introductory session online: https://register.ccli.org/class_series/11217  

  3. Pre-Marriage Testimony for Bride & Groom. This should be filled out at your local parish. This is filled out in the presence of your parish priest or a delegate of the parish where you attend.

  4. Matrimonial Dispensation & Permission (This applies when one of those entering into marriage is not Catholic): This is filled out by the Catholic party and sign in the presence of the priest or delegate of the parish and send to the diocesan Tribunal.

  5. Pre-nuptial Witness Testimony. Each one of you needs to provide two witnesses who will fill up a form (Freedom to marry).  This form is filled out at their local parish. 

  6. Marriage License from California.

Once you have gathered all the paperwork, your parish will send it to your Chancery Office for revision and approval, they will send the package to Sacramento Diocese. We must have all the paperwork with us at least three months prior to the wedding.
